For new clients Lactation Home Visits are arranged within 24 hours of your calling to make an appointment. Visits last approximately 90 minutes. A home visit includes the following:
- Complete prenatal and birth history. Discuss your thoughts and concerns

- Weight check. A pre and post-feeding weighing to evaluate breast milk transfer
- Together we will write a comprehensive plan so that you can continue to work on the techniques that we have worked on
- Discuss breastfeeding management so that you can better understand your baby
- Provide on-going support by phone or e-mail until breastfeeding is going smoothly

Lactation consultation by telephone or e-mail
Most problems are best handled in person but some questions can be answered on the phone or through e-mail and I will be happy to do so. If it is more complicated I will tell you. For established patients (those who have had a home session with this baby) there is no charge for follow-up phone calls. For Non-Established Clients the charge for telephone assistance is $15.00 for up to 10 minutes and $1.00 for each minute there after. E-mail assistance will be charged at $10.00 per e-mail. Payment can be made by credit card over the phone.
Online Consultations
It is of paramount importance that we protect ourselves and our families from the spread of the COVID-19 virus. It is equally important that breastfeeding families receive the support and assistance they want and need.
In order to do so, I am offering online consultations. Please contact me for an appointment 1 847-512-7187 or at 800-LACTATE or e-mail me at patricia@800lactate.com.
Breastfeeding Education
My role is to help parents sort through the information they have been given and that which has been passed on to them. It is essential to sort out the facts from the myths so that parents can make informed decisions for themselves. You can read some common breastfeeding myths here, more myths here, still more myths here, and more and more myths here. Return to top

Newborn Assessment
While I am not a physician or a nurse, my years of working with babies allows me to assess:
- their color
- their nutritional status
- their hydration
- their neurologic and respiratory status
- their oral anatomy
- structural assessment
I weigh most of the babies that I see. Return to top
